Physical Education
All students across the year levels participate in physical education lessons with a specialist teacher. Lessons are weekly and are 30 minutes in length.
All students have swimming/aquatic activities in term 4. More information on swimming below.
Sport
The major aims of sport at Lake Clarendon Sate School are enjoyment, maximum participation and skill development. Interhouse Sports Carnivals for cross country and athletics are conducted in both Early Phase (1 - 3), and Middle Phase (4 - 6) divisions. School teams compete at District Sports Competitions and in recent years have been very successful.
Many students go on to representative honours at district, regional and state level, in both individual and team sports.
Skills clubs are offered at playtimes and are taken by a specialist teacher. Clubs currently on offer include soccer, rugby, cricket, volleyball, basketball, cricket, netball and T ball.
Swimming
Aquatics units are conducted in term 4. Students are first introduced to swimming in Prep, Term 4. Having adequate supervision is required to ensure the safety of students in the pool. Teachers will distribute class notes requesting the assistance of parents and carers. The following ratio is used:
Years Prep - 3: Two to three parents are usually needed to assist in the pool, as well as one watching.
Years 4 - 6: A minimum of one parent (sometimes more depending on the activity) is required.
To go to swimming, children must bring the following
- towel
- bathing cap
- suitable swimming togs (boards shorts are not permitted)
- sun shirt
- sunscreen lotion (we will provide it for those children who don't bring any)
- a bag for belongings and wet gear
NB. Please make sure all belongings are clearly marked with your child's name and class
