Connected Learning iPad Program

One of the key foundations of our strategic plan at Lake Clarendon State School is 'Connected Learning', with the implementation of digital technologies into our school's ever-changing toolkit for learning, a key component.

At Lake Clarendon State School, staff use a range of resources, including digital technologies, to remove barriers and enhance learning outcomes for all students. Students have access to a range of digital devices to support their learning, including many iPads that are shared across the school.

Our Connected Learning iPad Program was introduced into our SAILS academy in 2019 through community consultation and continues to be improved and refined. This will be rolled out to year 4-6 classes over the next two years. Teachers are supported with the seamless integration and use of device across all subject areas from year 4-6. The program aims to:

  • further remove barriers to learning
  • support development of individualised learning pathways
  • use devices as an effective feedback tool
  • extend learning beyond the classroom
  • engage students in ways previously unimaginable.

Our Connected Learning Program requires parents to purchase an iPad from an independent supplier. Before acquiring a device to use at school, please be aware of our school's specification requirements.  These specifications ensure that your child's device will maintain the correct operating system for the lifetime of the program and have safe and secure access to the department's network.

Parents will be required to purchase the following:

•6th Generation iPad or higher (We recommend the 8th Generation for longevity of the device). IPad Mini is not acceptable as the screen size is not conducive to learning.

    •Non Cellular- No sim

    •128GB recommended (however 32Gb acceptable)

•Apple Pencil. Please ensure you check which Generation of pencil is compatible with your iPad generation (Logitech Crayon is also accepted.)

•AppleCare+ 2 year warranty (extension available after 2 years)

    •Screen protector

•Case- Military standards drop test protection with integrated Pencil storage. We recommend the STM DUX Duo+ range.

All participants in the iPad program will be invoiced a small Mobile Device Management fee per year through the school's financial department. This MDM enables us to manage all devices on the schools network safely as well as facilitate the seamless roll out of updates and bulk purchasing and deployment of apps.

Lake Clarendon State School continually strives for improved outcomes in learning engagement, productivity, home-school partnerships and academic results. We look forward to this program enhancing our ability to learn and grow together.
